Meet Your 2020-2021 Chronicles Writers!

We are constantly looking for positive outcomes of 2020 and I believe that the addition of four new writers to the Chronicles staff is something CWIB members can truly look forward to! Joining our already talented team, I am excited to welcome these promising ladies to you and reintroduce the faces behind the amazing articles you read every week. I am very grateful to lead such motivated women who possess so much enthusiasm for the Chronicles.

Lauren Miles

Lauren Miles

Lauren is a sophomore majoring in marketing and minoring in data and decisions. She has always loved to read and write and enjoys being a part of the Chronicles since we work as a team! Researching interesting topics and ideas for articles is one of Lauren’s favorite aspects of being a writer. Lauren can play the piano and loves classical music. She also runs an Instagram account where her posts are focused on literature and literary history! Check her out @a__novel__idea__

Ashley Mattson

Ashley Mattson

Ashley is a senior majoring in business information technology (BIT). She enjoys writing for the Chronicles, because we get to explore numerous topics that are relevant today. Ashley appreciates that the Chronicles allows her to continuously work on her writing skills. She doesn't take a lot of writing classes as a business major! For fun, Ashley plays the piano!

Grace Farmelo

Grace Farmelo

Grace is a sophomore majoring in business management on the EIT track. She enjoys being a Chronicles writer because she gets to write about practical life skills, what is going on in the CWIB community, and the ambitious women in CWIB doing great things in the world. She enjoys putting her passion for writing toward something she believes is making a difference in the Virginia Tech community and beyond. Grace is from Centreville Virginia and is “proud of my northern Virginia upbringing, but I do have a soft spot in my heart for Blacksburg and southwestern Virginia.” She’s been riding horses for eight years and the barn is her happy place. Another fun fact is that she was on a jump rope team as a kid and can still do some pretty dope tricks!

Meng Hembrey

Meng Hembrey

Meng is a sophomore majoring in corporate finance. She says that she wanted to join the Chronicles because “[she] wrote for [her] High school newspaper and has missed it.” She was interested since the Chronicles focuses on business topics and it combines her love for writing with her major into a cohesive experience.

Allison Gray

Allison Gray

Allison is a junior majoring in accounting and information systems and finance. She wanted to get more involved with CWIB and felt the Chronicles was the way to go! This opportunity will also help her meet more members and improve her professional writing skills. Fun facts: Her dog is named after Hannah Montana, you can find her working at the Math Empo, and she worked at a sushi restaurant but still can’t use chopsticks correctly.

Sierra Flynn

Sierra Flynn

Sierra is a freshman majoring in finance. She enjoys being a Chronicles writer because it embraces her love for writing and allows her to share prominent business related topics with CWIB members. A fun fact about Sierra is that she loves coffee!

Sarah Viebrock

Sarah Viebrock

Sarah is a junior majoring in finance. She wanted to join the Chronicles to be able to express [her]self on paper while representing an amazing organization like CWIB. [She] really misses writing so [she] thought it would be a nice break from typical Finance homework.” Next time you want to go to NYC ask Sarah which Broadway show to attend -- she’s seen 20!

Emma Harwood, EIC

Emma Harwood

Emma is a senior majoring in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise with a concentration in dietetics. She hopes to become a registered dietitian. Emma’s love for writing is expressed through her role as Editor-in-Chief of the Chronicles and feels very fortunate to work with such talented women. “My role as EIC and as a CWIB member in general have provided me with so many skills that will help me in my professional goals, regardless of my major.” In her free time, Emma enjoys cooking/baking, exercising, and developing her personal blog “Emma’s Mindful Meals.” @emmasmindfulmeals
