Sinkland Farms Event Recap
This past Saturday, October 22nd, was the annual CWIB Sinkland Farms event, which encouraged CWIB mentorship groups and individual members to bond with each other and enjoy everything Sinkland Farms had to offer.

It was a warm and sunny day, which made it the perfect time to visit and gave everybody a nice break from the cold weather we’ve been experiencing.
We were welcomed by the Marching Virginians and the Virginia Tech cheerleaders at the entrance to get tickets and take some pictures. It seemed like everyone in Blacksburg had the same idea, because there were lots of families and many other Virginia Tech students. It was also Sinkland’s Hokie Spirit Weekend, so there was lots of school spirit going around!

Students split up into different groups and began exploring the farm. On one side, there were local vendors that were selling plants, jewelry, food, stuffed animals, and more. There were horse-back rides, face-painting, hay rides, and corn mazes. Some students even took pictures with the pumpkins and had the chance to buy some as well.
On the other side of the farm, there was live music and food. It gave students the chance to fuel up on funnel cakes, so they could continue exploring.
Sophomore student Johnna Pastore first joined CWIB the fall semester of her freshman year. She attended the event with her mentorship group. She said, “I really enjoyed being able to get to know other CWIB girls and support the local community vendors that were selling at Sinkland Farms. Being able to bond with my mentorship group made me feel a lot closer to the other members in the club. ”

If you weren’t able to attend the event, stay on the lookout for other opportunities to bond with members! We have a few workshops, fundraisers, and activities coming up where you can meet with recruiters and other students.
